What the Customer Needed
A homeowner in Great Barr, Walsall had bought a new toilet and a built-in sink that sat inside a vanity unit. They wanted the old units taken out and the new ones fitted properly, with all the pipework connected up and left neat. The bathroom was still in use day to day, so the job needed to be done in one visit and left ready to use before I finished.
What I Did and Why
I started by isolating the water and taking out the old toilet and sink. That gave me a clear space to work in and let me check the pipework behind before I fitted anything new. Once I was happy with what was there, I set the new toilet in place, connected the waste and the water feed, and made sure it was sitting level and firm on the floor so it would not rock over time.
The sink was the more involved part. Because it was built into a vanity unit, I had to line up the hot and cold feeds and the waste with the openings in the unit before fixing everything down. I fitted the tap, connected the pipework underneath, and tested each joint for leaks before closing the unit up. Little things like this make the difference between a job that lasts and one that gives you problems six months later.
How It Finished Up
With both units in and tested, I ran the water for a while and checked every connection again before packing up. The bathroom was cleaned down and the old units were taken away so the customer did not have to deal with them. They had a working toilet and sink the same day, fitted properly and ready to use.
